- Supporting the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment [ moreless ]
Sodexo supports the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, a high-visibility effort to make campuses more sustainable through institutional commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Sustainability is defined as meeting our contemporary needs without compromising the ability of future stakeholders to satisfy their needs.
At Sodexo, our mission is to improve the quality of daily life. We have a responsibility to conserve natural resources and support sustainability initiatives. Through our work in facilities management, campus dining and student nutrition services, we have a unique opportunity to share our approach of being good stewards of our environment with our 63,000 staff, 1,500 clients and the 3.5 million people served by Sodexo Education every day.
To assist us in our sustainability initiatives, Sodexo has developed a partnership with The Loyalton Group. This national firm has expertise in:
- Monitoring the usage of natural resources including electricity, gas, oil and water
- Purchasing electricity and natural gas at the most attractive rates
- Designing solutions to conserve consumption of electricity, gas, oil and water
The Monitoring Services provided in partnership with Loyalton have saved our clients on average $100,000. Procurement Services have saved many clients an additional $100,000 each year through lower rates. These services have also allowed our clients to purchase "renewal" energy or electric power. Conservation Services have identified opportunities to reduce consumption saving millions of dollars and reducing emissions of CO2 or "greenhouse" gases.
